Oregon Health Insurance Exchange Update - Approved Rates for 2015

The Oregon Health Insurance Exchange  released approved individual and small employer health plan rates for 2015. On average, they are lower than 2014 rates.Oregon

According to the Oregon Insurance Division, 13 insurers filed individual health plans for sale on the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange (www.coveroregon.com). Fourteen insurers filed small employer group plans for sale on the SHOP Exchange. 

The average monthly premium for an individual silver plan for a 40-year-old in Portland in 2015 is estimated at $250, compared to $262 in 2014.

For a similar small employer "SHOP" plan, the average 2015 premium is an estimated at $308 per month, compared with $327 in 2014.

  12. Samaritan Health Plans, Inc. (Small Employer Plans Only)

  13. Time Insurance Company (Individual Health Plans Only)

  14. Trillium Community Health Plan, Inc.

  15. UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company (Small Employer Plans Only)

  16. UnitedHealthcare of Oregon, Inc. (Small Employer Plans Only)

OR Health Insurance Exchange - Approved Plan Rates for 2015

As mentioned previously, the average monthly premium for an individual silver plan for a 40-year-old in Portland in 2015 is estimated at $250, compared to $262 in 2014.

According to Insurance Commissioner Laura Cali in a recent press release, “Ultimately, the approved rates are lower on average than in 2014, reflecting the effect of competition and Oregonians’ expanded access to health coverage.”

Specific health plan information and rates are expected mid-August at www.oregonhealthrates.orgOpen enrollment for 2015 health plans begins on November 15, 2014.
