federal health insurance poolThe Department of Health and Human Services (www.hhs.gov) released new information today on how to access the new Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) established by The Affordable Care Act. The new plan makes health coverage available to individuals with pre-existing conditions that have been uninsured for at least 6 months.

Twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia will administer the plan themselves. Twenty-one states elected to have HHS administer the new plan (find your state here).

Information on how to apply for the new Pre-Existing Condition Plan in your state is available at www.healthcare.gov. To download the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan brochure, click here.

More information on the new plan will be included in future blog posts.
