2014 is here. According to the administration, approximately 2.1 million Americans have enrolled in a personal health insurance plan through new health insurance marketplaces. Some of these consumers were previously insured, but others are newly insured. So, what do these new consumers need to know about using their personal health insurance coverage?
For Americans who have signed up for personal health insurance coverage through the health insurance marketplaces, the administration released a new tip sheet to help consumers understand their coverage before they go to the doctor or pharmacy.
Some of the consumer tips include:
-
Make sure you know when your first premium payment is due
-
Check to see which doctors and pharmacies are in your network
-
Bring your insurance card with you to the doctor or pharmacy
What are your tips to consumers who are newly insured? What would you add to this tip sheet?
