Free eBook: The Tax Professional's Guide to Health Care Reform

New eBook Helps Tax Professionals Understand Key Tax Provisions of ACA

Zane Benefits, which provides businesses with web-based defined contribution plans and health reimbursement accounts, today announced it had published a free ebook named “The Tax Professional's Guide to Health Care Reform” to provide CPAs, CFOs, accountants, and tax advisors a guide to the key tax provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires CPAs, tax advisors and accountants to be experts on the key provisions of health care reform. As a result, tax advisers will now be the "go-to" for all health insurance decisions. The Tax Professional's Guide to Health Care Reform resized 600

The primary shift in the role of the tax professional will center on assisting business and individual clients in determining:

  1. The size of the business based on Full-Time Equivalent Employees (FTEs) vs. annual revenue, and

  2. The amount of tax credits and subsidies available and whether or not that outweighs the tax penalties and costs of offering qualified group health insurance.

For example, tax professionals are going to be required to help clients consider whether it will be more valuable for them to go to a state exchange or a private insurer based on how many FTEs they have.

The 54-page ebook is available for free download at the website and covers the following topics:

• The key tax provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

• How state health exchanges impact corporate and personal taxes

• The different tax penalties and tax credits

• How the tax credit for an individual is calculated

• Why many small businesses may drop coverage
