After years of work on the part of its supporters, the Small Business Healthcare Relief Act (SBHRA) is headed to the White House, where it will be signed into law by President Obama today at 2 p.m. ET.
Passed as part of the 21st Century Cures Act earlier in December, the Small Business Healthcare Relief Act expands health benefits options by creating a new, federally compliant healthcare reimbursement arrangement (HRA) exclusively for businesses with fewer than 50 employees.
President Obama will deliver remarks at the Oval Office before signing the bill. A live stream of the signing ceremony is available here via WhiteHouse.gov. You can also watch on the White House YouTube channel:
The SBHRA provisions in the law go into effect January 1, 2017.
