Los Lunas Animal Clinic (LLAC) has been under the direction of Donald J. MacDougall DVM since 1987. LLAC strives to provide the very best comprehensive and quality health care possible for all small, large, exotic, and wild animals.anicaml

The Challenge - Workplace Motivation in a Creative Environment

Creativity is ingrained in the workplace culture at the Los Lunas Animal Clinic. It is an integral part of the service they provide. In fact, for Office Manager Linda Dowling, it is her favorite aspect of working at the clinic.

LLAC prides itself on not merely operating as a ‘spay and neuter’ clinic. The staff are continually open to taking on new initiatives, including caring for exotic and wild animals. They want to create a fun and interesting workplace for their employees.

But even the most interesting business can face struggles. For Linda, employee motivation tops her list.

“An HR challenge specifically, is finding people who are willing to work. People want a job, but it is sometimes difficult to keep the work energy up.”

So Linda and her team continually think of creative ways to spur motivation. For instance, they create fun activities like board games. Employees can participate, giving them the chance to win money or gift certificates. But Linda and her staff also realize that a motivated workplace must also encompass great employee benefits.

The Solution - A Creative Approach to Health Benefits

When LLAC’s group health insurance premiums began to increase, they once again used their creativity to search for affordable health benefits to offer employees.

“We must have spent thirty to forty hours researching on the internet when we found Zane Benefits. We spent a lot of time talking with Zane Benefits staff to make sure it was the best thing for the clinic while staying compliant and providing relief to the staff.”

To be certain it was the perfect fit, Zane Benefits helped ease her staff into the clinic’s new health reimbursement plan. “[Implementing the ZaneHealth plan] went perfectly. We had somebody on the phone that held our hand through the process and made sure the transition happened the way it was supposed to.”

The Result -  Happy Employees, Business Savings, Motivated Workplace

Linda and her team work diligently to put employees first. Happy staff for LLAC means a motivated workplace, which ultimately results in increased profitability and reduced turnover.

More importantly, it means the ability to provide the highest level of service to their clients in addition to giving back to the local community.
