Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange Update - Health Plan Rates

CT Health Insurance Exchange Plan Rates

Five insurance carriers will offer individual and/or small group plans on the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange, which is called Access Health CT.

The Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange will be an online portal where Connecticut residents and small businesses can shop for health insurance plans and receive access to federal tax subsidies and tax credits.

Access Health CT will open for enrollment October 1, 2013 with coverage beginning January 1, 2014. (See www.accesshealthct.com.)

Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange - Individual Health Plan Carriers and Rates

According to the CT Department of Insurance (DOI) rate reviews, the following four carriers have applied rate filings to offer individual plans through the Exchange:

  • Aetna (base rate $280/month)

  • ConnectiCare Benefit (base rate $397/month)

  • Anthem (base rate $296/month)

  • HealthyCT (base rate $265/month)

All plans and rates are undergoing a formal rate review process and will be finalized prior to the October 1, 2013 opening of the CT Health Insurance Exchange.

The base rates are the monthly costs before the insurance company makes adjustments for gender, geography, and other rating factors. The rates are also before any federal premium tax subsidies are applied.
